MARSHALL, Mich.—The Marshall Community Foundation announces the following new scholarships offered for spring 2022.
The Ayla Lankerd Scholarship for Dreams is awarded to Marshall-area graduating seniors pursuing an advanced degree or post-secondary certification in the arts or sciences at a two- or four-year educational institution. Applicants should exemplify Ayla’s attributes of independence, wittiness, intelligence, tenacity, nonconformity, courage, competitiveness, desire for perfection and quirky sense of humor. Financial need, GPA and evidence of involvement in co- and extra-curricular activities, may be determining factors.
The Guardian Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School graduating seniors seeking a finance- or business-related degree at a two- or four-year Michigan-based college or university. Nominees will exhibit an exceptionally positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to overcome obstacles while remaining optimistic. Nominations only: DO NOT submit a Marshall Community Foundation Scholarship Application.
The Faye Berry Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Marshall High School graduating senior, or previous graduate, pursuing a career in Education at a two- or four-year institutions, or pursuing a post-graduate certification/degree in an educational “support personnel” field. Preference may be given to those expressing long-range interest in Special Educational-related services positions with a desire to help students “blossom” despite difficulty learning. In the spirit of Faye Berry, special consideration will be given to applicants who have been able to succeed with a little bit of extra encouragement or extra effort (add to essay). Scholarship applicants should demonstrate community involvement, financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students who receive this scholarship are encouraged to apply for further support in subsequent years.
The Bonnie Kay Rocco Community Kindness Scholarship is awarded to Marshall and Tekonsha High School graduating seniors, or previous graduates, pursuing a degree in the field of education at a two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must show a strong sense of community involvement through co- and extra-curricular activities and volunteerism as related to his/her field of interest. Financial need and GPA may be determining factors.
