The Marshall Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is pleased to announce that it has approved $750 grants for several area schools to stock their essential needs closets. These funds are specifically designated to assist schools in meeting the growing demand for hygiene products, necessary outdoor apparel for various weather conditions, personal care items, and other essential supplies for students.
As part of the YAC’s commitment to addressing the needs of local youth, the council developed a plan to earmark a portion of their grant making funds specifically for essential needs in local schools.
“We are thrilled to be able to assist our local schools by providing students with the essential items they may not have access to otherwise,” said YAC president, Margaret Rodgers. “YAC takes pride in knowing these grants will help ensure that necessary resources will be available to students, regardless of their circumstances.”
School administrators and staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the grants, emphasizing the positive impact they will have on students’ well-being and academic success. “This grant will make a significant difference for our students, ensuring they have access to the basic essentials they need to focus on their education,” said Beth Brownell, Principal of Harrington Elementary.
The Marshall YAC remains dedicated to supporting the community and empowering young people to take an active role in philanthropy. By addressing the immediate needs of students, the YAC continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of local youth.
YAC is a 26-member group of Marshall area high school students, chosen by their peers to make recommendations to the foundation’s Board of Trustees regarding grant allocations for youth-serving projects in Marshall and Calhoun County. YAC members also provide “hands on” service to their community.
