1. How did you hear about YAC and why are you interested in joining? What specific qualities would you bring to the council? | I heard about it through my friends and post on social media! i’m interested in joining because i’d love to be a representative of my class in the YAC community, engage with my classmates, and perform helpful activities in the Marshall / surrounding community! |
2. What does community service mean to you and how have you been impacted by community service? | It means significant responsibility, participation, and dedication. I’ve been impacted because i personally feel that helping out my community is so much better than anything else. |
3. YAC has identified the following youth issues as concerns in our community: (a) Academic pressure, (b) Mental health, (c) Vaping/e-cigarettes. Choose one of the issues. Discuss steps you would recommend taking to address the concern. *Write a minimum of 200 words | B- mental health through athletes, peers, and overall the community has been a concern. Mental health isn’t always easily displayed and that’s why several people partake in easily visualizing someone as “always optimistic” or perform poor behavioral activities such as constant aggression and smoking. For me, I feel that mental health should be taken seriously and immensely and with the YAC community shining towards helping this issue and making it be seen as something normal and fixable rather than a burden, will help several of students not only in my community, but everyone around. As far as activities such as smoking, helping people with this issue perpetrated if this becomes an incline addiction is usually the best option. Helping students with academic pressure to encourage them that a bad grade on a test/ exam, or a bad practice if this is a student athlete, that a letter doesn’t define them as an individual and help them raise a grade in a particular class. Students can unconditionally have this idea of perfectionism as far as grades and what they’d expect after a grade. With YAC, i feel that helping students with any to all these issues with benefit them more than words can describe. |
4. If accepted to YAC, how will you prioritize your commitment to the organization? What extra-curricular events/activities might interfere with your YAC participation? | I will prioritize my commitment to the organization by participating in events as a whole with the groups! Other event i typically have would be student council (if chosen), symphonic/concert band, track and field, spanish club and any other groups that i choose to participate in as time comes but will keep posted of what is chosen. |
5. Have you applied for YAC membership in the past? If so, when? | no i have not. |
