1. How did you hear about YAC and why are you interested in joining? What specific qualities would you bring to the council?

I saw the article in the advisor, I have been familiar with some of the events they have taken apart of. I am a student at Bellevue High School, for my freshman year I was class president. I also was the student representative for PBIS and was part of student council. I am actively involved in both communities Bellevue and Marshall. Something I can bring to the council is I enjoy coming up with activities that get students involved.

2. What does community service mean to you and how have you been impacted by community service?

I have done a few community service events over the past year, I helped with the Bellevue Good Samaritan Dinner, North Penn Field Day and Bellevue Community Clean Up. I feel it is important for the youth to be involved and have a voice in their community.

3. YAC has identified the following youth issues as concerns in our community: (a) Academic pressure, (b) Mental health, (c) Vaping/e-cigarettes. Choose one of the issues. Discuss steps you would recommend taking to address the concern. *Write a minimum of 200 words

As a student in high school I understand academic pressure that myself and my peers put on themselves. I have always strived to receive A's in all of my classes. I also have pushed myself to take some pre-college classes at the University of Notre Dame and I plan on taking KCC classes in the spring semester my sophomore year. I have set some goals for myself after high school and I push myself to reach these goals by taking these extra classes. With all of these extra classes and pressure that it may bring I try hard to balance life and school work. Steps students can take to handle academic pressure is still take time for activities that they enjoy to give themselves a break from the academic work that is put on them either by the school or goals they have set for themselves. When I feel that I am becoming overwhelmed by my school work I like to take time away and relax by taking my dog for a walk, drawing and being with friends and family. I always remind myself that my grades do not define me, as well as it is ok not to always be perfect.

4. If accepted to YAC, how will you prioritize your commitment to the organization? What extra-curricular events/activities might interfere with your YAC participation?

I will give my best to the YAC organization, I do sit on the PBIS committee at my school which meets twice a month after school. I also am on a travel softball team and take dance classes in Marshall. My schedule is busy but I do well handling all the responsibilities.

5. Have you applied for YAC membership in the past? If so, when?

No
