1. How did you hear about YAC and why are you interested in joining? What specific qualities would you bring to the council?

I initially saw it on Instagram but Jack marsh and John Paul Rodgers also told me about the youth advisory council, in terms of me being interested in YAC I have always been interested in it and also student council but I never thought I would actually get in so I figured I wouldn’t try but now I’m going to try. I am Interested in making new friends and helping the community the best I can. What I would bring to the council would be a great mindset, a very good team player, new ideas coming from a different view and much more.

2. What does community service mean to you and how have you been impacted by community service?

Community service means a lot to me, knowing that I can help family’s across the town even if it’s just giving them a meal, it stills mean a lot knowing I helped people that day. I have been doing community service for a while now I always make sure to do the thanksgiving drive with broadway every year and also toys for tots during Christmas time

3. YAC has identified the following youth issues as concerns in our community: (a) Academic pressure, (b) Mental health, (c) Vaping/e-cigarettes. Choose one of the issues. Discuss steps you would recommend taking to address the concern. *Write a minimum of 200 words

Academic pressure is something every kid that is in school has gone through, I personally have had a lot of academic pressure. A step that I would recommend would be to break your studying into smaller and more manageable sections, and also take short breaks while studying to make sure your brain has enough time to regroup so you have all of your brain for the next section. Mental health, mental health has been something almost every kid has had either because of there home life issues, bullying, etc. but a step I would consider is if gets bad enough that you have thoughts of being better off not on this earth then I would make sure to go to a therapist and if it’s still bad after a couple months of seeing your therapist I would recommend going to a doctor and getting prescribed with a antidepressants to help with those thoughts, I am currently on antidepressants and it has helped tremendously. I have personally this issue in the youth, as it being seeing younger kids on the street vaping or smoking it breaks my heart that they can be exposed to those type of things this early in age. A step a would take to help with this issue would be to make YouTube videos/ TikTok videos about the negative effects of smoking, drinking, etc. or host a meeting with all the kids in the school and just talk to them about how bad that stuff could actually be for you and hopefully change there mind.

4. If accepted to YAC, how will you prioritize your commitment to the organization? What extra-curricular events/activities might interfere with your YAC participation?

If accepted to YAC my main priority would be to make those meeting or making those services, in terms of how I would do that is I would make sure to put everything in my calendar and make sure to know when they are so I can make them, and if I have something that is less important I will make sure to reschedule that event so I can make sure I make those meetings or services. My extra curricular events that I have are tennis in the fall and I also play baseball in the spring but in the winter I train for baseball to make sure I am ready for season!

5. Have you applied for YAC membership in the past? If so, when?

No I have not, but now I am!
