| 1. How did you hear about YAC and why are you interested in joining? What specific qualities would you bring to the council? | My friend Maya Scalf told me about this program. I’m interested in joining because I want to help out the community and as many people as I can through any type of labor. A couple of qualities I have that can benefit the council is patience, sympathy, respect towards others, and overall peace to anyone. |
| 2. What does community service mean to you and how have you been impacted by community service? | Community service means a lot to me, I try to help out as many people as I can I know in Marshall from helping out the elderly, to volunteering at my church, yard work for anyone, and spending time with those in need. I’ve been impacted by community service by seeing the goodness in people who just want to help the world. And that’s why I want to join, to help everyone. |
| 3. YAC has identified the following youth issues as concerns in our community: (a) Academic pressure, (b) Mental health, (c) Vaping/e-cigarettes. Choose one of the issues. Discuss steps you would recommend taking to address the concern. *Write a minimum of 200 words | B: To address mental health in youth. Most people if not everyone goes through something truly hard in their life. Therapy can really change someone’s life and I would strongly push for that. Posters on a wall aren’t enough to get someone out of the fear of trying therapy. A personal connection and recommendation to therapy can help that person get out that fear. I want to talk to people and help people who would rather talk to just a friend. I think everyone in YAC can talk to someone on a personal note and that can truly help someone in their journey. We can have a small group after school for those to come and talk to each other and professionals. Go on fun trips around Marshall and Albion to help people get their minds off of things. Going to coffee shops, stores, grabbing dinner, and just things for people to spend time with, and enjoy great moments that turn into pleasant memories. Doing things weekly, monthly or any period can have people looking forward to the next event to hopefully help their mental health. I want to create good moments for those who need it. That’s what I would do to help those in need. |
| 4. If accepted to YAC, how will you prioritize your commitment to the organization? What extra-curricular events/activities might interfere with your YAC participation? | If accepted I will prioritise meetings and activities. I have nothing else going on. I live right here in Marshall by MHS and I have no events or activities To interfere with besides from holidays and traveling to see family. |
| 5. Have you applied for YAC membership in the past? If so, when? | No |
