1. How did you hear about YAC and why are you interested in joining? What specific qualities would you bring to the council?

I heard about YAC from the teachers/staff that came from Marshall high school to Mar-Lee for a day to tell us about your school and what is has to offer. I am interested in joining YAC because, it is an opportunity to explore and expand my help in this community that has already given so much to me. Qualities I would bring to the community are, leadership, ideas/creativity, a helping hand, and a listening ear.

2. What does community service mean to you and how have you been impacted by community service?

Community service means a lot to me because, has given me opportunities to find things that make me, me. It has also given me a chance to meet the people in this community. I have been impacted by Community Service by theater and festivals. Theater have let find my group of people and bring out the best in me. Festivals have are a great way to get this town to celebrate important days, making it easy for me to celebrate with this community.

3. YAC has identified the following youth issues as concerns in our community: (a) Academic pressure, (b) Mental health, (c) Vaping/e-cigarettes. Choose one of the issues. Discuss steps you would recommend taking to address the concern. *Write a minimum of 200 words

The issue I will be discussing with you is vaping/ e-cigarettes and the steps I would recommend taking for someone who wants to stop vaping/e-cigarettes. Step one: find a trusted adult or friend and tell them about you wanting to quit vaping/e-cigarettes. Step two: throw away any vape/e-cigarettes that you may still have in your possession and stay away from people who may still have some, they may cause you to want to start again. Step three: find a way to distract yourself from the urge to vape/smoke. You may feel a craving making you need something to chew, blow, or even just hold so, find an object that can help you with that craving. Step four: watch some videos that will help you get through things and start to do something you enjoy maybe art, read, or even just hanging out with people who make you feel good and bring the best out in you. keep telling the trusted adult updates about your progress and if you feel yourself about to break tell them immediately so they can help. Those are all the steps I would recommend to someone who wants to quit vaping/e-cigarettes and I might recommend videos too if they wished for it.

4. If accepted to YAC, how will you prioritize your commitment to the organization? What extra-curricular events/activities might interfere with your YAC participation?

If I get accepted into YAC the only conflict that could interfere is theater. YAC will always be my priority and I can let theater know when I will not be available due to my commitment to YAC.

5. Have you applied for YAC membership in the past? If so, when?

I have not applied for a YAC membership in the past, this will be my first time. Thank you for your time.
