The Marshall Community Foundation is pleased to announce the offering of scholarships and grants providing enrichment opportunities for students and teachers of all grade levels. The funds are provided through the generosity of donors, families and friends of the community.

Don and Ruth Chadderdon Music Scholarship

Criteria
The Don & Ruth Chadderdon Music Scholarship is awarded to Marshall High School instrumental music students, during high school or after graduation, seeking a career in teaching or performance, for music camps, seminars or summer programs in instrumental music,  such as but not limited to the Interlochen Music Camp.

Phillip R. Clissold Vocal Music Scholarship

Criteria
The Phillip R. Clissold Vocal Music scholarship provides awards to Marshall Public School choir students wishing to attend a Summer Vocal Music Camp/Seminar.  Western Michigan University or Wolverine Camps are preferred but others will be considered. 

Tom and Lucy Franke Education Enrichment Scholarship

Criteria
The Tom & Lucy Franke Education Enrichment Scholarship for provides support to Marshall students wishing to participate in enrichment programs such as:  Seminars; Fine Arts, Math and Science Camps; Regional, National or International travel for educational purposes and other enrichment opportunities.  The maximum scholarship award is $500.00 per recipient.

Kari Hamaker Performing Arts Scholarship

Criteria
A scholarship awarded to a student in Marshall, Olivet or the surrounding area, during school or upon graduation, seeking a degree in Performing Arts or for additional enrichment opportunities in performing arts. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. GPA is not a qualifying factor; however, transcripts and test scores are required. Students who receive this scholarship are encouraged to apply for further support in subsequent years.

Success Fund for MPS Enrichment Scholarship

Criteria
The Success Fund for Marshall Public Schools Scholarship was established for Marshall Public Schools students seeking assistance with non-school related programs and experiences, such as but not limited to arts and STEM camps and educational travel opportunities.

Sullivan Family Enrichment Scholarship

Criteria
The Sullivan Family Enrichment Scholarship is awarded to Marshall area students willing to raise half of the necessary funds for participation in an enrichment activity.  The scholarship may support enrollment in activities such as Philmont National, Boy & Girl Scout Camps, Interlochen Music Camp, Close-Up program, educationally related travel, school choir/orchestra/band programs and FFA enrichment activities.

Jacob Dannenberg Education Enrichment Scholarship

Criteria
The Jacob Dannenberg Education Enrichment Scholarship provides support to Elementary School Educators seeking to enhance the existing curriculum with: Necessary classroom/additional materials; Student participation in special field trips to exceptional exhibits or involvement in other educationally sound experiences; Guest faculty/speakers.

Hayes-Washburn Fund for the Visual Arts

Criteria
The Hayes-Washburn Fund for the Visual Arts is for Marshall Public Schools educators seeking support for programs, such as, visiting artists, visiting art exhibits, tours to art institutes and centers, scholarships for classes at art centers and purchasing supplies for enrichment classes.

Marshall Music Fund

Criteria
The Marshall Music Fund is for Educators in the Marshall Public Schools seeking to enhance Music Programs for 5th through 12th grade. All music fields, including instrumental and vocal, are eligible to apply. Funding supports programming up to one year. Grants awarded to educators will vary with the program relative to the educators’ proposals, the funds available for distribution and at the discretion of the Marshall Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The funds awarded will be directed to the Marshall Public Schools.

Karen M. Nickels Equestrian Fund

Criteria
The Karen M. Nickels Equestrian Fund supports the activities of the Marshall Public Schools Equestrian Club, primarily but not necessarily limited to, expenses incurred by the team when participating in the regional or stare equestrian competition or for the purchase of and or the construction or improvement of team buildings, equipment or facilities.  It is not intended to be used for individual scholarships or general purposes for the MPS.

Karen M. Nickels Memorial Fund

Criteria
The Karen M. Nickels Memorial Fund is for Marshall Public Schools educators seeking support for the needs of Special Education elementary students, particularly those students at Walters Elementary School.  The fund shall be utilized to supplement the annual budgeted allocation for special education student’s needs, particularly outdoor playground equipment, indoor exercise and gymnasium facilities and equipment.

Bonnie Kay Rocco Community Kindness Fund

Criteria
The Bonnie Kay Rocco Community Kindness Fund supports qualified nonprofit organizations, such as, but not limited to, Calhoun County 4-H, Marshall and Tekonsha Public Libraries, local elementary schools and the Marshall and Tekonsha High Schools’ Athletic Departments.

Success Fund for MPS Enrichment Scholarship for Educators

Criteria
The Success Fund for MPS Scholarship was established to support Educators seeking assistance with new and innovative programs that directly impact the student experience.   Awards will be renewable for educators up to three times per Scholarship requirements, or as determined by the Scholarship Committee.  For scholarship renewal, applicant must prove previous success and continued need.

James and Linda Tarmnel Memorial Fund

Criteria
The James E. and Linda L. Tarmnel Enrichment Fund was established within the Marshall Community Foundation to enable Mar Lee School and Marshall Public School educators to assist students who are in financial need to participate in enrichment experiences, such as but not limited to, school-sanctioned field trips, summer programs through the City of Marshall Recreation Department, or participation in school programs and activities, such as band and other clubs. Monetary awards are not to exceed $100.  (This grant does not apply for sports fees, or musical instrument rentals.)
